Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale

Often called a “mild” if it is on draft, brown ale is a walnut-colored specialty of the North of England. A beer for festive occasions, brown ale is one of the oldest English brewing styles, mentioned in literature as early as the 16th century. The Yorkshire system of fermentation gives this ale a round, hazelnut flavor, with a wonderful balance of crystal malt and aromatic hops and a long, clean finish.

The Raven “Special Lager”

The Raven Special Lager is a brew from Baltimore Washington Beer Works, which was founded by Stephen Demczuk, a partner in Europe’s first beer of the month club, Beer Around the World. With some help from fellow Baltimorean Jim Seay and German beer importer Wolfgang Stark, he created a lager designed to appeal to both lager and ale lovers. The Raven is brewed in honor of Baltimore’s literary genius, Edgar Allen Poe.

Starr Hill Lucy

In the mid-90’s, Master Brewer Mark Thompson returned to his native Virginia from Portland, OR, having learned two things: First, that the craft of artisanal brewing was one part science and one part art; and second, that making delicious beer was a lot cooler than anything he had ever done as a biology student. After several years of apprenticing with other master brewers, Mark was ready to begin crafting beer using his own recipes. He chose to start up in Charlottesville, an area that was sure to have a strong market for his innovative brews. Lucy is their summer seasonal, a light English  ale, spiced with ginger, lime, and coriander. It will remind you of warm summer nights on the beach. $10.00

Wailua Wheat Ale

Kona Brewing Company was started by father and son team Cameron Healy and Spoon Khalsa. The pair had a dream to create fresh, local island brews made with spirit, passion and quality. Their love of Hawaii, and a desire to protect the pristine environment here, brought them to the Big Island to fulfill their vision. Kona Brewing continues to be headquartered right where it began, in Kailua-Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island. The plunging cascade of clear water in Wailua is the inspiration for their Limited Release Wailua Wheat Ale. This golden, sun colored ale has a bright, citrusy flavor that comes from the tropical passion fruit they brew into each batch. Sit back, relax and enjoy paradise.  $9.00

Widmer Brother’s Drifter Pale Ale

During the 1970’s, a decade remembered by some for its various social movements, Kurt and Rob Widmer began to formulate a movement of their own. After graduating from Oregon State University (Rob) and the University of Oregon (Kurt), respectively, the Widmer brothers set out into the “real world” only to find out the “real world” wasn’t for them. So Kurt Widmer packed his bags (minus the suit and tie) and moved to Germany to soak up the culture. After 2 years in Germany, traveling from town to town enjoying great tasting European brews, Kurt returned to Portland, Oregon with a mission to create American interpretations of authentic European beer styles, he talked his brother Rob into quitting his job and joining him, it wasn’t hard. What began as a dream for two ordinary brothers who just loved beer is now a reality for two ordinary brothers who just love beer.

With its unique citrus character, smooth drinkability, and distinctive hop character, Drifter Pale Ale is truly an original. Brewed with generous amounts of Summit hops, a variety known for their intense citrus flavors and aromas, Drifter has a taste unique to the Pale Ale category. True to style, the bittering hops are perceptible enough to give the beer a crisp, clean, quenching finish, yet also soft enough to keep the beer smooth and balanced. $9.00
